It was a bright sunny morning. We arrived at 8:45 am. We did our usual warm up, we ran along the beach, then we stretched. It was really warm and we were glad to jump in the water, apart from the fact that it was really filthy with plastic and things floating all over. We started with our safety exercises and swam to the first pontoon together. We then moved from one pontoon to another. There was some competition in between swimmers as we all are more comfortable in the water. Then we separated into groups, some to work on their techniques, others to work on their endurance. Each swimmer improved their swimming skills and we managed to swim up to 1.3 KM that day. The most exhausting part was when we swam around 500 metres without stopping between the shark net and the little green house at the far end of the beach, passing all the pontoons. We finished after 1.5 hours and we ate the well deserved biscuits and cake. The coaches were encouraging, the dads enjoyed talking and the mums were following us closely. Some brothers and sisters joined us for swimming and some for just floating around. We saw a jellyfish and luckily it did not sting anyone. No one was scared. We are all making good progress, thanks to our coaches. We are looking forward to the charity race, although it will be much more tiring as we are aiming for a 2.4KM swim. We will all try our best for Lily!
