If the kids are out training, then I am there with them !

I have been cycling at night when my children have gone to bed and where I can make the most of the light evenings.

Today I decided to go out at lunch. I can’t remember the last time I rode a bike but I’ve been playing around with the gears to be most efficient on the bike and to make it hard for myself. I figured that there is no point in freewheeling. In Exeter I am very lucky as there is a cycle path along the river Exe so it is very safe. This cycle path should enable me to cycle most of the 24 miles (40km) away from traffic and that is one less thing to worry about.

My training is very different to the swimmers as I am solitary.

As I ride, I think of all of the children, coaches, parents who are out there so that motivates me. The scenery is beautiful as I ride out to the estuary.  The British weather is living up to its name and I have been battling the elements and returned home looking like a drowned rat. NOT to worry! It’s only rain.  This weekend I will aim to ride between 25-30km !

Your teacher, Lily

Dear Lily, the kids are thrilled (and impressed) that you will be ‘out there too’ (in a natural element just as wet as around Middle Island: England !) , having your own sport challenge on the same day...and that you still train despite your busy schedule with Alfie & his siblings ! We are all with you !
